Send this to the rest of the family and let’s get your lakeside holiday organised.
To us, the magic of holidays at Daisy Chain is that they bring families together. Grandparents, staying with their children and grandchildren. Cousins playing together. Siblings catching up and Grandparents loving being surrounded by their family.
And you’re together in a home that makes family holidays so easy. There’s a kitchen equipped with everything you need for a quick bite or a family feast. You’ll also find to all the ‘family equipment’ you could wish for including stair gates, cots, high chairs, baby bath and of course toys, books and games.
But it’s also being surrounded by great activities that make for an easy holiday. You don’t need to spend the previous evening on complicated plans for grand days out. You’ll swim, play tennis, jump in the canoe, walk around the nature reserve, enjoy the playgrounds and relax together.
And at mealtimes you might eat at the house, or you’ll wander 5 mins through the private estate to Ballihoo restaurant, or grab a wood fired pizza from the pizza shack and eat it at home on the balcony. A visit to Cirencester Park is a great family activity this summer…and with its woodland location, the ball run is perfect for hot days when you’re in need of a bit of shade.
The woodland ball run made me think of crazy Wallace and Gromit inventions - your children will love following the ball on its way round.
Top tip: don’t take a tennis ball thinking you can manage without a wooden ball. It won’t be heavy enough and will get stuck on its way down!

They’ve all arrived, enjoyed their first meal together and then looked out onto the lake and seen the colours changing.
Grabbing life jackets and paddles from the cupboard they’ve rushed outside, launched the canoe and paddled out into the middle of the lake.
And that’s the moment that they know they’re on holiday. Turning, they see the sunset lighting up the houses and life slows down.

We love receiving written reviews - we hope that guests looking at our website will help them decide whether Daisy Chain is for them.
But what guests never see is the way that families have holidayed at Daisy Chain. They’re found quietly at changeovers: the much enjoyed toy hiding under the sofa, the chair that’s been moved on the deck to make the most of the sunrise, the bedtime stories left in the children’s bedroom.
They are the little signs that tell us that guests felt at home. They walked into the living room, saw the lake view and knew they belonged.
That’s how we want Daisy Chain to feel - a home from home. Not somewhere that you’re constantly on alert for your little ones knocking precious things over or worried about how you will cook a family meal when there aren’t enough pans.
They’ve boiled the kettle, walked out onto the balcony, taken a deep breath and relaxed.

A visit to a PYO farm is a lovely way to spend a summer afternoon, picking wonderfully ripe, flavourful strawberries.

There is so much to enjoy at Cotswold Lavender But

There is so much to enjoy at Cotswold Lavender
But first, the star of the show: the lavender.
Imagine walking through a purple haze, immersed in the wonderfully summery scent of lavender. It’s one of the most Instagrammable locations in the Cotswolds.
The lavender season @CotswoldLavender in Snowshill, set in the heart of the Cotswold Hills begins on 17th June.
As well as the display beds which are open to the public, Cotswold Lavender grows over 35 different varieties of lavender on approximately 45 acres of hillside producing 1.5 tonnes of lavender oil and 2 tonnes of dried lavender each year!
But it’s not all about the lavender. Here are some top tips for visiting with your family to make sure that you enjoy everything that is on offer:
- Take a picnic with you (there are lots of picnic benches, or grab a picnic blanket)
- As well as enjoying the lavender fields, there is a wild flower meadow to explore
- Take lots of photos of your little ones in the lavender fields
- Treat yourself to some lavender ice cream
- Take your inquisitive little ones to visit the Beechwood Trail
- Soak in the views of the Cotswold Hills
- Browse the gift shop before you leave for a reminder of your visit
The lavender farm is open daily from 10am to 5pm from 17th June until 5th August 2026.

Just a mum of 3 teens telling you the truth.
So many of us believe that foreign holidays are somehow superior to holidays in the UK and it’s really time that that ended.
I think we’ve been conditioned to believe that jumping on a plane is the only way to have a fun holiday but what if we just didn’t subscribe to that narrative anymore?
There really are no rules. You can just stay by a lake in the Cotswolds and the kids will be living their best lives on paddle boards and canoes and it will be a fabulous family holiday.

but on the positive side, we did get to sit in an air conditioned car for 4 hours…
and we may just have sneaked in a little trip out in the canoe too… after all, we had to check it was ready for our next guests too!
