FAQ about your holiday at Daisy Chain on the Lower Mill Estate

Please find below our most frequently asked questions. If you can’t find the answers you’re looking for please don’t hesitate to contact us using the contact form on this page.

How much does it cost to use the pools?
Nothing.  Use of the indoor and outdoor pools (both at the Spa and in Mill Village), sauna, steam room and gym are included as is use of the tennis courts, playgrounds, multi-sports court and our Canadian Canoe.

Are there any additional charges at all?
There is an Activity Hub on the Lower Mill Estate where, for an additional cost, you can hire canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and bicycles.  The current charge (Spring 2024) for hiring a Canadian Canoe for 3 days is £110, so by staying at Daisy Chain you are effectively saving this amount as we provide a Canadian Canoe for your use. There is also a soft play facility that can be hired.  If you would like to book treatments at the Spa this would have an additional cost..

Do we have to have 9 people?  There are only 4 of us.  Is the house too large?
Because of the way that Daisy Chain is laid out, it works really well for a single family or for two families holidaying together.  On the ground floor there are 3 bedrooms – a kingsize bedroom, a twin bedroom and a single room, so if there are just 4 of you you’ll probably choose to all sleep on the ground floor.  With two families you expand into the bedrooms upstairs.  We find it works really well when we stay at Daisy Chain with or without other friends and family.  You’ll also be able to enjoy much more space in the living areas than you would have if you booked a house for 4 people.

Where can I charge my electric car?
There are a number of shared chargers on the Lower Mill Estate which are free to use.  If they aren’t available, there is a charging facility at the Cotswold Water Park Gateway Centre on the Spine Road which is less than 10 minutes away.

What is the damage deposit?  Will I get it back?
At the same time as you pay the balance for your holiday at Daisy Chain we also invoice you for a £250 damage deposit.  This is only used in the event of you or anyone in your group causing damage or the need for extra cleaning a the end of your stay.  We are very pleased to say that in the 10 years that we have been letting out Daisy Chain we have only needed to make deductions from the damage deposit four times.  (One of these was when someone did some ironing, but decided to using the carpet as an ironing board rather than the ironing board which we provide.  The carpet melted.)  We do not make deductions for the odd broken wine glass.  We understand that accidents happen and would much rather our guests told us of any breakages so that things can be replaced than kept quiet and left us to discover missing or faulty items.

Your booking form asks how many people are going to stay.  Can I change this later?
Yes! That’s fine.  Sometimes families book and then Grandparents decide that they would like to join in the adventure.  Please just drop us an email and let us know how many people will be staying if things change after the original booking.  The limit is that we can only accept 9 guests and an additional 2 in cots.

Do you have a barbecue?
Yes! We have a barbecue for Daisy Chain and guests are already enjoying barbecuing on the lakeside.  Enjoy sitting by the lake, canoeing and then coming to shore for freshly barbecued food (you could even catch your own supper from the lake!)

Are children allowed in the Spa?
Yes – the Spa is very family friendly and children are most welcome. We will send you a list of Spa opening times with your information pack.

Where is the nearest Supermarket?
The Lower Mill Estate is located 5 miles south of Cirencester. 10 – 15 minutes drive away in Cirencester you will find a large Tesco and Waitrose – both with their own parking.

Can I have my groceries delivered?
Yes, all the major supermarkets will deliver onto the estate.  We recommend you book a delivery for the evening that you arrive.  If you are staying for a week you might also like to book another delivery later on in your stay to top up on supplies.  You’ll build up a good appetite with all the exercise you will be doing!

Where is the nearest place to eat?
There is an onsite eatery, Ballihoo,  on the Lower Mill Estate for the exclusive use of residents and guests.  The Baker’s Arms Pub is a 20 minute walk away in the village of Somerford Keynes.  It is family friendly and often visited by guests.

Do you have a coffee machine?
Yes, there is a Tassimo coffee machine available for you to use.  We suggest you add some tassimo coffee pods to your grocery order.

Where will I be able to park?
There is one allocated parking space outside Daisy Chain and then an overflow carpark 2 minutes walk away.

Can I bring my canoe?
Yes, of course.  We have a Canadian Canoe, paddles and life jackets available for you to use, but you are most welcome to bring your own canoe too.  It can be launched on the lake 50 metres from Daisy Chain, and then you can store it outside Daisy Chain when it is not in use.

How far is it to the beach?
Whilst Daisy Chain is a long way from the coast,  it is less than a mile from the UK’s largest inland beach which comes complete with sand, boat hire, wibit aquaventure and crazy golf.

Do I need a car?
Daisy Chain is a 10 minute taxi ride from Kemble Station which has direct links to London Paddington Station.  There is so much to do on the Lower Mill Estate that it is easy to spend a week at Daisy Chain without needing to use a car.

Can I bring my dog?
Yes, you are welcome to bring your dog.  Please be aware that we do not have an enclosed garden.  For more information, do have a look at our page about Dog friendly holidays in the Cotswolds.

Can we stay for 2 nights at the weekend?
Yes of course, but you will need to book 3 nights  – this ensures that you have the use of Daisy Chain for the whole of the weekend rather than needing to check out at 10am on a Sunday morning.  If you can’t stay for Sunday night it means that you can use the house for as long as you would like that day before you have to return home for work and school the next day.

Is there a shopping outlet nearby?
Yes, in Swindon, about 20 minutes away there is a shopping outlet with many well known brands selling discounted goods.  Some of our guests stop off on the way home to buy new school shoes from Clarks.

Do you provide wood for the wood burning stove?
Some wood is provided to start you off.  If you need some more you can top up at the General Store on the estate.
