An interesting article about why the Red Arrows are particularly special in the Cotswolds. Fun to read that the Red Arrow crew used to unwind in the Wild Duck at Ewen (I posted about The Wild Duck a couple of days ago!)
Each year the world's largest military airshow takes place at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, just 12 miles from Daisy Chain. This year it promises to be another spectacular event. The Air Tattoo will be hosting the official celebrations for the 50th season of the Red Arrows who first formed at the Fairford Base in 1965. During the Tattoo visitors will be treated to a thrilling flying display including fast jets, giant transporters, historic aircraft and much much more!
Last year we watched some of the display in the distance from the balcony at Daisy Chain. In the weeks leading up to the display visiting aircraft can be seen over the Lower Mill Estate practising their manoeuvers.
The Royal International Air Tattoo takes place from 11th – 13th July 2014. For more information visit http://www.airtattoo.com
