J K Rowling TV drama filmed in Stroud

Filming has begun this week on J K Rowling's Casual Vacancy at Archway School in Stroud. The Casual Vacancy was J K Rowling's first novel after the hugely successful Harry Potter series. The story begins with the death of parish councillor Barry Fairbrother and revolves around the affect this has on the small West Country town where he lived. Stroud will double for the fictional town of Pagford with filming taking place at Archway School and the Police Station.

It is thought that 200 locals will be extras in the mini-series which includes actors Michael Gambon and Keeley Hawes.
