STEAM: Museum of the Great Western Railway, Swindon is a great location for a family day out. STEAM is located in the heart of what was once one of the largest railway engineering complexes in the world and tells the remarkable story of the men and women who built, operated and travelled on the Great Western Railway. At its peak in the 1930's it was producing 3 locomotives each week!
The museum offers a great hands on experience for children, from operating a signal box to controlling the model railway.
